-- VERY WIP AS OF POSTING --

Making this early to give people something to look forward to, keep myself on track, and encourage feedback/suggestions :)

What started out as a little bunker on an island made as a joke has, over time, become increasingly more of a serious project.
And now, one I'm hellbent on seeing through. So I present:

Undergruv Station, a mid pop station (aiming for something equivalent to Box) located deep underground, and accessed from a totally secret island bunker in the middle of the Jungleland's vast sulphuric ocean. The crew will ascend and descend from the surface riding one of the many D.I.V.E.R. shuttles (think drop pods from DRG) found throughout the station, each one serving a different purpose.

This subterranean station will be totally separated from the surface, barring the D.I.V.E.R. shuttles, hopefully giving off an atmosphere of claustrophobia and isolation from the rest of civilization. Apart from that, since we won't be able to take a mining shuttle down to lavaland/jungleland, the mining D.I.V.E.R. will now descend even deeper to a new mining environment: the Caverns.

I've seen a lot of people - both here on Yogs and elsewhere - be disappointed with planetary stations because some things that exist on regular space stations just aren't possible in planetary environments. I want to try my best to avoid the same traps other planetary stations fall into, and make up for it by going all out here. Go big or go home, right?

So that's why, overall, the whole map will have a whopping 5 Z-levels, consisting of:

The Surface

A small archipelago of islands in an acidic sulphur-water sea. New arrivals will leave the shuttle at a landing site and enter the secure entrance bunker, where they'll find transport to the deep subterranean levels. Other islands can be found, featuring an auxiliary landing site in case of emergencies, a lush garden biodome where assistants can tend to flowers and enjoy the sun, and a small electrical maintenance building to provide power and safe air to the other islands.

Station Deck 1

The main station level. This is where the crew will arrive and depart from, and where most departments or department foyers will be. D.I.V.E.R. landing platforms will be the highest here, so mind your step!

Station Deck 2

The sub-station level. Most of this level will be areas found inside departments, but there will be plenty of places to go from just the hallways here too. Even then, there may very well be as much maintenance as there are public hallways here.

Station Deck 3

The basement level of the station. There isn't much to be found here, and nobody really knows what it's for, or frankly, how to even access it? There aren't even any doors that lead it. To make matters even weirder, some assistants have reported hearing strange sounds beneath the maintenance plating on the second floor, or even weird vibrations coming from below.
In any case, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

The Caverns

Welcome to the Caverns! This will be a brand new mining environment in the form of one giant cave network found even farther down, right in the middle of an active lava zone. These caverns are very similar to lavaland, but more dangerous in a few different ways. The thin air down there is mostly toxic, the climate is hot, the ground is full of lava and, of course, you're not alone. And to top it all off, the cavern has a new, very lethal weather type. Just make sure the airlock is completely shut when you come back inside.

And so, while good work has been done, not much is in a state that I'd like to show right now. Stay tuned, and I'll try and keep this updated as development comes along.
