Ensure you have completed the prerequisite steps.
-
Download the .7z archive of the game, and extract it to your preferred game folder. (You can also use a different valid copy of the Ultimate Collection if you wish, such as the G4TW repack.) The default folder is “C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 2 Starter Pack.”
- If you stray from the default, make sure your game folder is still somewhere safe where it won’t get deleted. Bad examples: Downloads or the Desktop.
- Your root folder should contain the TS2 pack folders and should not contain any non-TS2-related files.
-
Download the Standalone Installer and run it. For the directory, choose the same folder you extracted the game files to. This completes the Sims 2’s registry installation, then installs Sims2RPC & dependencies.
- Components page recommended option = “Full” preset.
- The “Modern AMD Graphics” preset is meant for newer AMD GPUs on Windows such as the RX 400 series and higher. It installs DXVK, which helps avoid bugs with certain GPUs of these generations. Otherwise, DXVK should not be checked in the installer.
-
The optional Store/Pre-order/Bonus content and clean neighborhood templates are not included with the Standalone Installer. However, you can still install them separately using these steps:
-
Store Content
- The Collections.7z.001 and .002 files should be extracted to the Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection folder.
- FunwithPets.7z extracts to the game install folder.
-
Clean Templates
- The old hoods must be removed before extracting, do not replace/overwrite them.
- Main hoods - Delete first:
- "$INSTDIR\Double Deluxe\Base\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods\N001"
- "$INSTDIR\Double Deluxe\Base\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods\N002"
- "$INSTDIR\Double Deluxe\Base\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods\N003"
- "$INSTDIR\Apartment Life\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods\E001"
- "$INSTDIR\Free Time\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods\F001"
- "$INSTDIR\Seasons\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods\G001"
- Subhoods - Delete first:
- "$INSTDIR\Best of Business\EP3\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\B001"
- "$INSTDIR\Double Deluxe\EP2\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\D001"
- "$INSTDIR\University Life\EP1\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\U001"
- "$INSTDIR\University Life\EP1\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\U002"
- "$INSTDIR\University Life\EP1\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\U003"
- Stealth Hoods - Delete first:
- "$INSTDIR\Apartment Life\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\E002"
- "$INSTDIR\Bon Voyage\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\V001"
- "$INSTDIR\Free Time\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\F002"
- "$INSTDIR\Fun with Pets\EP4\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\P001"
- "$INSTDIR\Seasons\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\G002"
- After deleting old hoods, extract the desired clean hoods archives to the game install folder (The Sims 2 Starter Pack).
