Hey!

In a small corner of Sweden, a Svante sits and builds open source projects. Oh wait, that's me!

Open source projects was really the thing that taught me to code, and I really hope I can give that feeling of learning by doing back to others, and not just only when it comes to programming. Part of that has been several years of contributing to and helping provide IRC networks for free open source software and peer directed projects, currently Libera Chat (GitHub) as staff and now as treasurer of the underlying nonprofit. (if you want to support Libera Chat, don't sponsor me, sponsor the Libera Chat organisation directly)

But it doesn't stop there, I'm also heavily involved in the sport of rope skipping all the way from the local level to the International level. I contribute to projects like the Tricktionary (GitHub) which helps people around the globe learn how to jump, it's been especially cool getting to hear stories from around the world of how it has helped reach people in remote areas and drastically lowered the barrier to entry for people.

I also maintain the only open source scoring system for rope skipping competitions, RopeScore (GitHub) which makes competitions viable for a wide range of teams, brings the ability to practice judging to everyone through the RopeScore judging app, and also acts as a reference implementation of the often complex rules around scoring which I hope will lower the barrier to entry if someone new wants to build a scoring system for their uses, or contribute the features they need to RopeScore.

Lastly I of course put together various small open source libraries, reading boring standards s lo you don't have to, and I take care of the rope skipping archive hoping to preserve historical documents for the future since I believe the only way to a brighter future is knowing our past suvcesses and mistakes.

Sponsoring me on GitHub would primarily help me cover the costs of hosting for the Tricktionary, but I hope it can also one day allow me to spend some more time on the open source projects I care deeply about so that more people one day can share that feeling of accomplishment from contributing and learning.
