XKit will automatically remove extensions that have been marked as obsolete in its code.

Why was this extension removed?

Reblog As Text

This extension prevented Tumblr from converting long text posts into link posts when reblogged. Tumblr no longer does this, so the extension became useless.

Reblog Yourself

This extension added reblog buttons to your own posts on the dashboard, which Tumblr now does by default.

Alternative Timestamps

The way the new dashboard works means that Timestamps can fetch time data without a network request. Alternative Timestamps is thus now entirely superceded by Timestamps.

Auto Load Images

Auto Load Images automatically loaded externally-hosted images inserted into text posts and post captions via HTML editing. However, Tumblr has allowed uploading of images into text posts and post captions since 2015, meaning externally-hosted images in posts are now few and far-between.

Soft Refresh

Soft Refresh allowed you to fetch new posts on the dashboard without performing a full page reload, by clicking the dashboard icon or Tumblr logo. This behaviour is now native to the new Tumblr web experience.

Hermes

This extension removed media from posts when you scrolled past them in order to improve performance, especially when using endless scrolling. However, Tumblr has since implemented that behaviour itself, so this extension no longer does anything.

Activity+

This extension added features to the Activity page. It stopped working when the new Activity page was launched in September 2020, and the majority of its features are now provided by Tumblr.

  • Group notifications by post – Tumblr started doing this by default sometime in 2018.
  • Expand Tumblr-condensed reblog notes – The new Activity page allows you to disable "Group similar notifications" in its Filters settings.
  • Enable Filter Notes By Type – The new Activity page's Filters settings also allows you to choose which activity types (likes, reblogs, replies, etc.) will be shown.

The settings Show timestamps on Notes and Hide the graphs (notes, new followers, etc.) do not yet have replacements, but may later be implemented into the Timestamps and Tweaks extensions, respectively.

ReplyViewer

This extension added a button to posts which, when clicked, opened a dialog to trawl that post's notes for replies (including reblog comments). This feature was designed at a time where replies would be included amongst the post's likes and comment-less reblogs, making replies hard to find; since Tumblr's notes viewer on posts now filters to replies by default (if the post has any), this feature is now obsolete.

Iconified Notifications

This extension replaced the action description in notifications with an appropriate badge for that notification type (like, reblog, reply, etc.); Tumblr has since added differently coloured badges to user avatars in notifications to visually differentiate them.

Classic Notifications

This extension was a nostalgia feature which added some notifications from the Activity page to the top of that blog's Posts page. It never left its experimental stage, and stopped working entirely when the old dashboard was discontinued. Additionally, Tumblr now provides a short list of recent notes via the Activity button in the site header.

Separator

This extension added a divider line to show where you left off on the dashboard. This behaviour was built into the new dashboard in November 2020 with the addition of the “You’re caught up” carousel.
