Creating custom Nodes
Here will only explain some of the basics, if you want to explore more functionalities consider visiting the documentation about the LGraphNode class.
Lets work on an basic example, create a node type that sums two inputs. Start defining the inputs and outputs of your node. For this purpouse we got the addInput / addOutput method:
addInput( {String}name, {String}type, {Object}extra_info)
// Your Custom Node class constructor
function MyAddNode() {
this.addInput("A", "number");
this.addInput("B", "number");
this.addOutput("A+B", "number");
}
The main difference between inputs and outputs is that an input can only have one connection link while outputs could have several.
some of the basic supported types are:
["*", "boolean", "number", "array", "vec2", "vec3", "vec4", "image", "Texture", "audio", 0 (if its a generic type)]
the extra_info can be used to have special properties of an input
{ name:string, type:string, pos: [x,y]=Optional, direction: "input"|"output", links: Array });
We can define some properties about our new Node like the title, the position or the size:
//name to show
MyAddNode.title = "Sum";
MyAddNode.position = [10, 50];
MyAddNode.size = [300, 50];
Next, how this Node will behave, the way to do this is setting a "onExecute" callback function to our Node class to do any required callculation when triggered:
MyAddNode.prototype.onExecute = function() {
var A = this.getInputData(0);
if (A === undefined)
A = 0;
var B = this.getInputData(1);
if (B === undefined)
B = 0;
this.setOutputData(0, A + B);
}
Check the list of the supported callbacks that can be deffined
Execution phases:
- onAdded: when added to graph
- onRemoved: when removed from graph
- onStart: when the graph starts playing
- onStop: when the graph stops playing
- onExecute: execute the node
Drawing:
- onDrawForeground: render the inside widgets inside the node
- onDrawBackground: render the background area inside the node (only in edit mode)
Interacting with nodes
- onMouseDown
- onMouseUp
- onDblClick
- onMouseMove
- onMouseEnter
- onMouseLeave
- onSelected
- onDeselected
- onDropItem : DOM item dropped over the node
- onDropFile : file dropped over the node
-
- onConnectInput : if returns false the incoming connection will be canceled
- onConnectionsChange : a connection changed (new one or removed) (LiteGraph.INPUT or LiteGraph.OUTPUT, slot, true if connected, link_info, input_info )
Value based
- onGetInputs: returns an array of possible inputs
- onGetOutputs: returns an array of possible outputs
- onPropertyChanged: when a property is changed in the panel (return true to skip default behaviour)
-
onSerialize
At last, we need to register our new Node class so it can be instanced onto a graph:
//register in the system
LiteGraph.registerNodeType("basic/sum", MyAddNode);
Here is the full example:
//node constructor class
function MyAddNode() {
this.addInput("A", "number");
this.addInput("B", "number");
this.addOutput("A+B", "number");
}
//name to show
MyAddNode.title = "Sum";
MyAddNode.position = [10, 50];
MyAddNode.size = [300, 50];
//function to call when the node is executed
MyAddNode.prototype.onExecute = function() {
var A = this.getInputData(0);
if (A === undefined)
A = 0;
var B = this.getInputData(1);
if (B === undefined)
B = 0;
this.setOutputData(0, A + B);
}
//register in the system
LiteGraph.registerNodeType("basic/sum", MyAddNode);
Here is a list of the supported methods and properties for each node available:
- onInputAdded( {Object}options )
