The Nutexb Editor is for viewing the data stored in .nutexb files like def_001_col.nutexb. The .nutexb file stores image texture data and is very similar to DDS files. Nutexb files use a specialized memory layout optimized for the Nintendo Switch, so they can't be edited or viewed in external applications without first converting to a format like DDS or TIFF.
SSBH Editor currently only views Nutexb files at this time. For editing, use a program like Switch Toolbox or nutexb_cli (requires compiling). The controls allow for selecting which color channels or mipmap is visible in the preview. Cube maps and 3D textures have an additional layer selector that controls the viewed face for cube maps or depth slice for 3D textures.
