IOS Press
Goal: Suggest likely relevant genes/compounds for neurodegenerative diseases
###140916 contact Call with Astrid Engelen
So far, we only have a raw description of the IOS Press use case.
Last meeting we decided that IOS Press
• would look for an Alzheimer's or Parkinson's content person for their use case with whom we would have a detailed use case discussion
• will provide us with the details on their journal content that will be ingested in EKP
Today I had a call with Astrid Engelen and she will discuss these issues with her collegue Rasjel tomorrow and get back to us.
###190916 update Call with Astrid Engelen
Both IOS Press' Parkinson's and Alzheimer's journals are part of Semantic Medline. Their linked data portal consists of Semantic Medline supplemented with geographical data of researchers. Geographical data is not relevant to the use case. So there is no additional data from IOS Press for ingestion in EKP. IOS Press prefers a use case for Parkinson's disease as it will be a more straightforward case.
IOS Press has two leads for a content person for their use case. Parkinson's disease: Bas Bloem (Radboudumc) Alzheimer's disease: Belgium researcher Rasjel is visiting a Parkinson's conference this week in the US. We will wait until IOS Press confirms the participation of Bas Bloem (Radboudumc) or the Belgium researcher for the detailed use case discussion. Alternatively, we could consider to run a pilot for gene-phenotype relations as a show case. Astrid mentioned that they have difficulties to explain and convince researchers of the value of linked data and to get them involved.
