Information about tree cover height data set: the tiles and symbology were generated by Vizz last year: https://api.resourcewatch.org/v1/layer/9efed1d8-164d-4adb-85a1-e62c6c5c00aa. It's a gradient scale from #BBFFB8 for 3m to #045200 for 30m.

Question regarding if we should use layers generated and registered by Vizzuality for Flagship or generate our own:

  • initial thinking on this is to try to tap into the layers generated and registered by Vizzuality since these will most likely reflect the most recent versions used by flagship.
  • creating own layers would enable us to have more control and the ability to couple our own unique legend configuration/translations/etc and we would control those with no impact to flagship via the api. If we tap into Vizz created datasets, we may need to make some case-by-case adjustments in the future.

Decided to use Tree Cover Height as a case study to investigate using Vizz created data sets in MapBuilder
