Sound design

  • Syntorial - An educational app that asks you to repeat the synth sound you hear and progressively gives you more controls to manipulate. Has a free trial of 22 lessons, with a full course of 199 lessons. Demo on YouTube

Also, historically there was a number of environments to do sound synthesis with code - starting from CSound, going through an abundance. My understanding is that SuperCollider, Max/MSP and PureData are the most alive now.
