Describe what needs to be documented.

General info about custom launchers , structure, use-cases, examples.
When to use, what problems they solve, etc.

Is the documentation missing?

Didn't find any in RTD.
There is old content in visit-users: http://www.visitusers.org/index.php?title=VisIt_Launcher#Customization
