Using shims vs PATH

I've noticed that shims were introduced, replacing the use of environment variables.

I read in the documentation tha5 the use of PATH the reason vfox 5 times faster than asdf.

What has changed?

Not all, PATH only.

Although I haven't run the latest benchmarks yet, I think there won't be any regression.

Just to be clear, even though it's called shims, on Unix environment, it's essentially a soft link. It's not the same as an asdf shim.

In addition, for vfox users, It doesn't matter whether you choose shims or PATH, they both exist at the same time. For Terminal, the PATH solution is still used, but the path has changed from the original absolute path(.version-fox/cache/nodejs/v-xxx) to a soft link path (.version-fox/tmp/shell-pi/nodejs/current). The shims are provided purely for ease of integration with the IDE, the path is .version-fox/shims.
