There is not a real solution for UltraVNC?

Currently there is a 1.5.0.3-dev.

It is possible to test and to see with @bernhardu?

Hello, I retried the current 1.5.0.0-dev with wine-9.13, but unfortunately it still hangs after entering the password.
As I assume this is working in Windows, therefore this normally has to be fixed on Wine side.

There are a few workarounds possible, each with some downside.

  • use a UltraVNC version prior to 1.3.4.0 (was at least working in 2021).
  • build a wine tree with MAX_WINPROC_RECURSION lowered (was working at least 2022)
  • build a wine tree with the modification attached to this bug comment
  • build a vncviewer.exe, that tries to detect and avoid the recursion (such a modification has to be developed first).
  • use another, maybe linux native vnc viewer.

If it is important to solve it...
Please find with @julliard, if it is needed to do a change in upstream or in Wine...
