sBTC WG: Intro Thread

👋 Introduction:

sBTC is a new Bitcoin-based asset on the stacks blockchain that can be freely converted into and out of Bitcoin without relying on any trusted third party. It does this using smart contracts on the Stacks blockchain, which are secured by the Bitcoin network in a trustless manner.

sBTC is exciting because it will allow the millions of people who use Bitcoin to interact with apps that run on smart contracts without having to trust a third party to move their Bitcoin between different blockchains. This, paired with the Nakamoto release, will enable app developers to write robust and speedy apps designed for anyone who wants to stick with bitcoin.

Whether you're an app developer or a Bitcoin hodler, you should be excited about sBTC.

🎯 Objective & Scope:

The sBTC working group is here to implement, deliver, and shepherd the release of sBTC and corresponding developer features onto the stacks mainnet chain.

• Signer Dashboard
• Feature and release documentation
  sBTC mainnet release

📅 Timeline

We are aiming for sBTC on Mainnet early April, coinciding with or shortly after the Nakamoto release
