Community Comms Working Group

Objective

Folks in the community are looking to get more involved with the open-source code progress and to better understand the technical roadmap and potential upcoming upgrades. Developers need a concise way to communicate the value of Stacks as a Bitcoin Layer, and what key unlocks are being worked on by the community and developers.

Scope

This working group will explore:

• Performance improvements that can be made without requiring a hard-fork -- these can be rolled out at any time.
• Performance improvements that are consensus-breaking -- these require a hard-fork and given the higher bar / overhead of such upgrades, it's desirable to "package" up related consensus-breaking changes into fewer releases.

Deliverables and Timeline

Stacks Manifesto goes live

• Currently working on a doc of where we are, where we’re heading “manifesto”
• Judes tech design doc draft incorporated when finished
• Whitepaper live on website
• 1-2 week timeline (mid-October)
• 12 month marketing plan and roadmap published
• Key messaging and timelines around narrative roll out
• Support messaging, marketing, and comms around new initiatives

1. Work on governance around decision making and distribution of work.
2. Write up priorities and timelines.

First action item:
Messaging framework for communication Stacks as a Bitcoin layer. Updates first delivered in a document and then distributed on public channels like stacks.co, social, and beyond. Simplifying the message across the public channels.

• develop intake form
• establish what we do/don’t do (for example paid ads) for launches

• add a section of things we don’t do
• confirm and define community participation within a Tier 1 launch
• create defensible position of what we are not going to do

Hello all,

Been talking to Jenny lately on doing more "early community involvement on sBTC" as part of the my SIP Residency for the coming quarter (s).

• Little more specifically acting little bit like a bridge/filter between the community and the devs: by allowing a space (via at least weekly SIP calls) for community to voice any feedback/praise/concern about sBTC & pass to the engineers effectively from time to time.

Therefore I'd like to join this comms. group to see where we might cross-over & can leverage/support each other's effort!

3/22/23 Working Group Notes

1. Agreed on three initial “strike teams” for more focused project work: Narrative, sBTC, and PR. Updates will be shared weekly.
