Installation procedure for Debian/Ubuntu
----------------------------------------
I created basic deb package, that should be working for Debian 8.0+ and Ubuntu
15.04+ (it may also work with older versions, just did not check). It is not
ideal; for example, it does not contain proper dependncies on some Python
packages that it really needs.
So, after downloading python-palette-editor*.deb, you should do the following:
$ sudo apt-get install python-qt4 python-numpy python-lxml python-appdirs
Not mandatory, but recommended to be able to open/save palettes as images:
$ sudo apt-get install python-pillow
Some recommended packages are not properly packaged for Debian, so you can do
the following:
$ sudo apt-get install python-pip
$ sudo pip install python-colourlovers # To be able to directly download palettes
# from colorlovers.com into the program
$ sudo pip install tinycss # To be able to read *.css files as palettes
And when dependencies are installed, you can do
$ sudo dpkg -i python-palette-editor*.deb
Main executable script is installed under /usr/bin/gui.py, and should become
available in your WM/DE menu under Graphics section (called "Palette editor").
