I have a Zenfone 8 phone with Android 13, official ROM image. The Material Colors shown in Extracted colors are not being used at all even after turning off the screen. Only in the system background theme the Material You pallette colors are showing, but not the same. If the wallpaper changes I have to manually go the system color theme and than choose a pallete which aren't the same compared with the app.

On my Pixel 7 I noticed this same issue... What you have to do is select a different wallpaper from your phone (that isn't the doodle wallpaper app). Then, go back into the doodle app, reselect the wallpaper, and apply it (and not sure if it's needed because I didn't test it, but I was in the appearance section of the app when I did apply my wallpaper). But this fixes the Material You color's not working properly.
As for why the issue happens in the first place, idk... But I first experienced it when I was fiddling around with parallax settings, even though the wallpaper was already set, so I went out of the app, set a different wallpaper, then re-set the doodle wallpaper from inside the parallax settings tab, and that's when the Material You color's went out of sync of the wallpaper.
