How do I recreate these screenshot functions without installing the dotfiles?

Whenever I take a screenshot with the dotfiles installed, it has this cool border that matches the theme of the captured area (when using select tool) and adds some nice drop shadow to it as well. How is this done? I attached an example image above.

Note: I don't like installing the dotfiles for this rice because when I do I can't find the option to change my lockscreen background or enter a folder as root from the file manager.
