Abstract

Since we've been working on this project for so long, we may all have some skewed perspectives on the way we expect the general public to react when presented with our suite of offerings, such as the website or the trade server.

I'm very interested to find out how we ALL feel, and hope that we can brainstorm strategies regarding rollout, features, marketing strategies -- really anything -- to reignite the waning interest I'm sure we've all noticed in our Discord server. After all, spells, while interesting, are always going to be niche.

From here on this is really stream of consciousness. Warning.

• Allow users on our Discord with linked Steam Accounts to access the site early / during MVP testing.
  • we get free user data in the form of SteamAccount -> DiscordAccount, they get to test our site for us.
• Post more content to the general Discord regarding what we're up to - in other words, show that we are making real progress.
• Assemble a small team of moderators for any administration that must be done on the site?
  • this will obviously require an administrator dashboard...

• Gather Aaron, myself, Sebastian, and anyone else who wants to come for 1 or more days in order to promote the site. Aaron & I both wearing the double ghosts combos.
  • run giveaways, spycrabs, unboxings, whatever trade servers do
• Create daily timed events on the server -- perhaps at "The Witching Hour" spells are spawned all over the map. That kind of idea.

Advertising

• this is mostly on Sebastian, but we'll get some large traders to include our name in theirs, promote the site that way, perhaps sponsor some youtubers. It all depends on ROI.

i reckon you could probably go up to some large server hosts like (probably not but maybe) firepowered or one of the larger trade_plaza_2 hosts and ask them if you can run events with spelled items as prizes

maybe, but I'm worried they'd avoid it since we're essentially direct competition. Thank you for the idea though, we'll see about this!

for discord announcements, i think this is good for early testing but for real release i think we should have a way to show them in the frontend, maybe a banner (anything but an annoying popup please) and a blog showing the release notes history and other events chronologically

though, if people want to be notified of these events we should definitely have a discord server and ping them on demand since web notification api is unreliable
