is there a strong view on the "create new proposal" that could be a button inof itself?

I would say that nothing in the current "design" is set in stone. Most of what is currently there was Allan and myself playing about with what is possible.

I think that the look and feel "design" aspect of the current UI is rather under done at the moment - as the emphasis until now has just been "get some forms that connect to the database" and would benefit from some prettifying - and I think that it might be a little unintuitive at the moment, so I am definitely in favour of something that is more obvious functionality wise

if you want my two pence (which is literally my first impressions from my exp with the NGOT)

we could move the "create new proposal" into a button on the nav bar (next to "proposal for PI") and use the "proposal for PI" to be the searching tool where "welcome" exists currently. Im a bit curious about the list of projects under the search component. We could make that "open projects" with the ability to "close" them to remove them from the list.

We have been thinking about getting inspiration from https://www.eso.org/p1demo/proposals - is there a similar public demo of NGOT UI?

https://ngot.asa-test.hq.eso.org/new-start would be the "currently deployed" version of the NGOT. to log in, there's a username and password I have which is a test user. Its worth noting that the NGOT is currently going through a UI re engineering. But what this currently shows is what I built for them.
