squeekboard 1.11.1-1 crashing with "failed to get display" .. core dump

I am unable to reproduce in Phosh.
How are you trying to run squeekboard?

The crash is visible in journal logs and if you try to start it via terminal ( while testing ). How it's started inside the system, i have no clue. But it worked the first few days. One day, i wanted to use it, and it failed since. Something in the environment seems to have changed.

This was on phosh. Can it be, that it's no longer compatible with gnome?

Looks more like the de keyboard isn't packaged properly/doesn't exist. I'm pretty sure Squeekboard only ever worked in phosh though, so maybe this should be closed with "unfortunately intentional behavior"

Update with 31.Jan. 2021 image:

using GDM and normal gnome 40 Alpha lead to coredump from Sqeekboard on gnome startup. no change on this front.
works in phosh.
