Start NiMH Reconditioning doesn't show any update #1215
Comments
Hello there! |
Hello @limpkin ! |
You may bypass the battery check by keeping the "shift" key pressed when
you click the "select update file" button.
Once upgraded, I'm fairly sure the reconditioning should work :)

Hello @limpkin <https://github.com/limpkin> !
Unfortunately I was trying to update to v13 from v5(I think) but I cannot
as it doesn't allow me to do it if it is not charged first.
Is there any way that I can make the battery work or the device is
"useless"?

Hi @limpkin and thanks for the prompt reply! I will update here later if the recondition worked!
|
Even after 8 hours it didn't change any state. Any solutions from this point on? |

I don't think I have a solution... let me check

Yeap that is the issue. It doesn't seem to finish ever. |
If the battery is dead, how is it possible to replace it? |
I'm afraid not without breaking the case.... but some good 3d printed case can be found: https://www.reddit.com/r/mooltipass/comments/191285c/custom_3d_printed_enclosure_for_mooltipass_ble/ |
How can I check that the battery is dead? |
Does the device switch off after being disconnected?
The most likely reason why the procedure doesn't finish is that the
charging algorithm doesn't seem to be able to reach a certain voltage
during the initial charging phase...

Yes immediately, but I was able to do update the firmware. |
FWIW I've checked the little box that said something along the lines of "continue until original capacity is reached". I'm about 72 hours in. I'm on the latest bundle/moolticute available for the miniBLE as of 72 hours ago. Is there an ideal phase for me to unplug it and halt the processes since there's no progress indicator and I'm giving up on it ending naturally? (rest, discharge, etc) LMK if there's any data I can collect to help out with this. |
I'd recommend disconnecting during the charge phase :) |
Do you seriously need to use a Dremel to open the case? What was the team's plan when it came to (inevitable) battery replacement warranty requests? |
No I didn't need! With just that: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0045/4092/4007/products/aIovhEfHIZ1hBUuY.jpg?v=1680262866&width=800 I managed to get it open and replace the battery! |
If you still haven't nuked the old battery, give this branch a spin: #1232 It now prints more info, so you should see every recondition cycle increase capacity for a little bit. My battery was almost dead, I started with 100-150sec to discharge, and only after a dozen rounds it reached nominal ~2500. No way near your 72 hrs, though, but still took about 2 days |
Expected behavior
I have been trying for more than 12 hours to recondition the battery but it doesn't show any different behavior.
First time I waited for 5 hours.
Then I tried again for another 5 hours.
Then I left it overnight >7 hours.
Still battery doesn't seem to be charged.
Actual behavior
I am not sure what it should show when the battery has been charged.
Could you add some pictures to the guide?
