--lock-text does not work

--lock-text does not work for TextTransformer because there is not such method in this class.
Is this on purpose or is it going to be implemented?

@nikifori @vkrishnamurthy11 there is already #523 ... it is looking reasonable but I have not found the time to sit down and test carefully, if anyone else is willing to check can speed up merging (or tweaking)
