To add persistence, it would be great to have an option in the emulator interface to replace the Preferences folder with an alias to a folder on the Saved HD image.

Does this actually work? At least with System 7, it doesn't look like an alias works for some programs, and they complain that they can't save. Here's PCalc:
I don't think aliases are like hard-links, so they're not entirely invisble.
Odd; I know I’ve done it at some point in the past… aliases can be finicky though if they’re not on the same drive.
