It would be great if the selected output i.e NMEA could be sent over Bluetooth LE, either standard BLE UART or selectable BLE device with RX/TX endpoints.
Phone can then be host to plotters and other devices using BLE connections

My thinking was to use ble-serial as a general way to get nmea data "out" from the phone to IoT devices or nmea-plotters. Stuff that generally uses rs232 or rs485 to connect to a stand-alone GPS could then use a cheap BLE to serial converter. Benefits would be fast acquisition with the mobile already having a GPS fix or being connected to a network, and of course, reuse of old phones as a GPS-receiver
