I am running MATE Desktop 1.16.2 on CentOS 7, the latest version available in the EPEL repository. I would like to save all session details when I log out and have them restored when logging in again. This includes all window positions and sizes as well as order on the bottom window bar. The session manager currently saves some session parameters but does not save eg window positions and sizes for the file browser, nor does it save the window order on the bottom menu bar. Having come from OS/2 a loong time ago, this was a much appreciated feature in that OS.
Can this be added to the MATE session manager?

Note that only those applications that include code to talk to the session manager can be saved with the session. That means at most all MATE apps and possibly GNOME apps (if GNOME still has sessiom saving) could be saved. Apps from anywhere else could not be saved and reopenes by these means.
Note that firefox has code to restore its lasr used tabs when it is itself restarted, which is of course rotally separate from desktop session saving.
