@khilman also asked if we could have %fail shown in the notifications. I gave it a thought and tried various combinations. I wasn't able to arrive at a really good solution, but maybe you could have some ideas. Basically, if we want to keep sorting the statuses horizontally from most to least important (e.g. first show build failures, then successes, then unknown statuses), then the least confusing thing is either to just replace result counts with percentages, or put the percentages into each column. I.e. this:
Could be replaced either with this:
Or something like this:
The former seems a bit lacking in information (i.e. an architecture with just one build which failed would look the same as one with a hundred builds which all failed), but perhaps it's OK. The latter, though, looks positively crowded, even if we manage to reduce punctuation somehow, and if there are any unfinished builds, another column of numbers would make this still harder to comprehend. One thought I had is to use emojis or special Unicode characters to somehow represent percentages. I searched for a while, and this is the best I was able to find. Judge for yourself (GitHub font might not work well here, try pasting this into your e-mail client or terminal):
Another option, using shaded blocks:
Finally, one last option is using phases of the moon (yep) to quickly and (hopefully) unambiguously show how much good and bad stuff there is:

Also, should I abbreviate the list of architectures too? It's getting a little long, I think :D |

What does pass/fail for a revision mean? |

Alright, taking a snapshot of the discussion so far, here and on meetings, and proceeding with something like the below samples. Let's leave further refinement for later.

I've spend the past few weeks trying to bring the new notification system to a state where we can produce a notification message which is short and sweet, but also summarizes results correctly. I got some feedback on the last meeting and tried to accommodate it. Below are some results for you to give additional feedback to.
However, please remember it is more important to reach out to developers, get their feedback, and be able to iterate quickly, rather than make it perfect the first time (which is not really possible). So, I'll try to address your requests and comments, but would rather move on sooner.
Anyway, here go the samples (note the links don't work yet).
