Mass Effect 1 #14
Comments
These seem to be different issues / underlying problems. Could you open separate issues for Amnesia and SDDE? Leave Mass Effect 1 in here because I'm going to push a fix for that. |
@ahjolinna Since I don't own ME1, could you please run this command: file '/home/ahjolinna/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Mass Effect/Binaries/MassEffect.exe' |
Okay I splitted those issue, and I got this with that command: |
Okay, so it's a 32-bit executable. But I guess Proton still instantiated a 64-bit prefix? Does it have a SysWOW64 directory in |

v2: * Work around MassEffect 1 OpenAL32 problems v1: * Fix audio playback problems related engine freezes with SkyrimSE Github-Link: #14 Signed-off-by: Kai Krakow <[email protected]>
Is this fixed with my latest release? |
no, that did nothing for game audio here is the log with default conf: if you want I can give you a log without the PS. now as wine 4.4 has been released valve is going to finally release proton with it, have to see if there will be any other major changes/fixes with it. also where you able to replicate the DoA6 and Dissidia FF NT issue? ....as they both have free versions (which I tried) |
when opening Amnesia™: Memories you get blank/black screen for few seconds and then it crashes, but if you install some of the libs/dll with winetricks it will fix the crashing issue but not the video playback issueProton/issues/2367andhere is my log steam-359390.logon winehq it has silver ratingSleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition (SE version of GTA/yakuza)I only get blank/white screen and sound, how it has been working is quite all over the place on protondbhere is my log steam-307690.logProton/issues/872 & 596Mass Effect 1
apparently the proton has problem with ME1 hardware sound option (which always get enabled by default), you can "fix" this by removing/renaming OpenAL32.dll
this isn't really a huge issue, what does make me worry is the FPS as its always under 60 ...even down to 40fps (not sure if this 100% games fault)
Proton/issues/177
log with the sound issue: steam-17460.log
and gameplay log (with sound): steam-17460.log
I'm going to try some (in game) tweaks that the community has been suggesting
