Pages are created automatically generating 404 errors #3942
Comments
You have shown a screenshot of the 404 log. This is working as expected. What problem with the plugin are you experiencing? |
It creates plenty of pages automatically.
I have tested my plugins one by one, and it seems that this problem occurs only with ''redirection''

Sure, but you are describing the purpose of the plugin, it isn't a problem, it is supposed to log these 404s. These 'pages' are not being 'created', the requests are being logged. |
very good, but how do you explain that when I remove the plugin and reinstall it to check, other 404 errors are not registered. Isn't it possible that the plugin conflicts with other plugins?

If the plugin is running, and you enable the 404 logging option, then it will register any 404s on your site. If you remove the plugin then it cannot log 404s. So far all you've described is that the plugin is working as expected. The plugin is not creating these requests, and it isn't creating pages. This is a log of requests being made to your site. When the plugin is not running then obviously these requests are not being logged - the plugin isn't running. |
If you don't want to see the log entries then you can disable the 404 logging option. |
Ok, thanks but do you have any idea where the problem could come from? I have pages that are created automatically when I am on wordpress or on elementor

The plugin only reports what is being requested. It does not know why the requests are being made. You can use the information in the login - IP, referrer, user agent - to try and figure out why they are happening. It is possible they are from bots and can be ignored, but also they could be real problems. From your screenshot it looks like some image files are being requested and don't exist, but I can't tell you more than that. |
I made 2 crawls: one before installing the plugin and the other after its installation (thanks to Updraft site backups).
I noticed that the creation of pages was not done before installing the plugin, I attached 2 screens of screaming frog.
So, the problem of page creation comes from the plugin.
Despite the relevance of your plugin, I will use another one.

I will repeat as there seems to be a problem in communication here. The plugin is not creating pages. It is only recording a log of 404 requests on your site. These requests will keep happening regardless of whether the plugin is running or not. |
To help track problems please follow this template. If you can provide screenshots then that will help.
