Help with controlling a Vaillant 831 combi.

Hi,
I am looking for some help to control a Vaillant 831 combi which is about 10 years old, I have connected the adapter and the information is flowing in to home assistant.
If I do a "find" then I get "bai SetMode = no data stored". I have also added "wi,BAI,SetModeOverride,Setmode,,08,B510,00,hcmode,,UCH,,,,flowtempdesired,,D1C,,,,hwctempdesired,,D1C,,,,hwcflowtempdesired,,UCH,,,,setmode1,,UCH,,,,disablehc,,BI0,,,,disablehwctapping,,BI1,,,,disablehwcload,,BI2,,,,setmode2,,UCH,,,,remoteControlHcPump,,BI0,,,,releaseBackup,,BI1,,,,releaseCooling,,BI2" to my bai.308523.inc file. Should I see SetModeOverride when I do the find command as it is not there? I am editing the correct local file. Do I need to edit some of the entries as not all appear for my boiler?

Would a Vaillant ebus thermostat be required to control the heating flow temp as I do not have one.
