Block editors

I've written two block editors.

tt (as of posting or latest) is a line-oriented editor, a set of words that ll list, rr replace, xx delete, and ii insert 32-character lines into a block buffer using the Forth interpreter and C64 screen editor.

z (as of posting or latest) is an interactive vi-clone similar to v. It displays and edits 1000 characters of a block on one whole screen. Current features include block browsing [ and ], shadow block flip £, buffer wipe d%, saving W, running F7.

z is at least capable enough that I used it to reformat tt's code from 32-wide lines into 40-wide lines. It has no text scanning, so no w b e dw cw A, also no D C though those wouldn't take much more code. Currently compiles to 1734 bytes of code, not including the block wordset of course.

One weird bug with z: typing a " in insert or replace mode seems to corrupt something. Looks like a carriage-return shows up in the gutter on the right. I don't understand it, don't know if anybody could offer a clue? (It's a tall ask with 200 lines of code but I'm patient.)

Changed 999type (rev as of posting) to actually print the right-side gutter on the first 24 lines, largely removing the need to page. Feels snappier without it and also lets you see context as you flip to shadow blocks. Added M and my own m to move to the center column. With 0 m $ g M G 5h 5j 5k 5l you can navigate pretty quickly.

Speaking of snappy I finally figured out how to configure VICE to use JiffyDOS and wow the screens load quickly now. It's night and day.

(rev) Chopped off some bytes here and there, added r C D. Current size 1735. You can now insert any control character you can type using the r command.

(rev) Saved a bunch of bytes deleting replace mode, deleting the 5 command, factoring out the key scan loop to reuse for d and : commands, and refactoring the edit words again. Added indent < > and character undelete insert. Instead of 5 you can fast-cursor with shifted HJKL commands. 1700 bytes.
