I made another question on this closed issue/pr: #24 which was meant to merge and release the latest version of Cilium but then without much explanation it was closed.

I wanted to try-out the new L2 Advertisements feature on my Openshift cluster, but this feature comes only with the latest version of Cilium, and given that in the Cilium Docs it is mentioned that regarding Openshift we need to install Cilium using the Operator, I wasn't sure if I can install it another way (Helm maybe?, are there any drawbacks?).

How long should we wait normally, until the latest version of Cilium is released as an Openshift operator?

I second this request: also, Cilium installation is only decently documented for installation on KinD (Kubernetes in Docker) clusters or OKD; I found nothing documented for a already installed Openshift cluster and I did not manage to replace a OpenShift SDN.

Red Hat doesn't officially provide support for in-cluster replacements of the OCP CNI apart from moving from SDN to OVN.

If you want to deploy a 3rd Party CNI into OpenShift, it needs to be done during cluster bootstrap.
