Examples don't point to the local build (or local debug version)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download Source
2. Go to api/examples
3. Load

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Loads a locally built version of we

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Git latest

Please provide any additional information below.
It would be even better if these pointed to a non-built (debug version), since 
the build is slow.  The documentation doesn't mention one, is api/main.js 
supposed to be this version?
