  1. Set Dialect to "Dark Style" and close it

image

  1. Set gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme "prefer-dark"
  2. Open Dialect again and start typing. You should see black on black text, which is very hard to read. It will go away if you switch between light style / dark style again

Version is 2.4.2 from Flathub

I'm not able to replicate this bug currently. Could you provide more information regarding your system? Are you running the gsettings command inside the flatpak shell? What desktop environment is it being run in, the distro and any other information possible.

I found another way to reproduce it without running the gsettings command, just by leaving the Appearance at Default Style

Do you have a custom ~/.config/gtk-4.0/gtk.css in your system? Maybe by using Gradiance previously.

As I can see your are using the MoreWaita icon theme, so you might've customized your desktop at a point of time.

Thanks for your comment. I don't remember using Gradience and my .config/gtk-4.0 folder is empty.

Just to be sure, I reset the icon theme from Morewaita to Adwaita and restarted. I can still reproduce the issue with latest version 2.5.

Still unable to reproduce this :(

I can also reproduce it on PostmarketOS edge with Phosh and Dialect 2.5 installed from Flathub.

  1. In Dialect, Style has to be set to "Dark"
  2. In Phosh, "Default style" has to be turned on / "Dark mode" has to be turned off

Speaking of that, I think my initial report was wrong.

To reproduce on Gnome 47:

  1. In Dialect, Style has to be set to "Dark"
  2. org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme has to be set to default or prefer-light. You can't trigger this bug with prefer-dark
