cdnjs served nearly 185 billion requests in June 2020. 🖥
cdnjs used a massive consumption of 3.24 PB of data to serve these requests this month. 📤
That's over 108 terabytes of data and 6.2 billion requests each day (averaged). 🤯
In June, each request to cdnjs used only 17.58 KB of data on average. 🔍
Library highlights
This month, the top three resources on cdnjs remained the same, with WebFontLoader (webfont/1.6.28/webfontloader.js)
taking the lead, followed by jQuery (3.3.1/jquery.min.js).
WebFontLoader saw over 5.7 billion requests for the single file, with jQuery following closely at just over 5
billion requests for the version 3.3.1 file.
FontAwesome (4.7.0/css/font-awesome.min.css) remained in third with the main font file
(4.7.0/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff2) moving to fourth place to join it, from fifth place last month.
Across the 9 different FontAwesome files in the top 100 resources for cdnjs, they consumed over 327 TB of bandwidth
with the 11 billion requests made for those files.
The most popular library overall this month remained jQuery with 12 files in the top 100, totalling 12.4 billion
requests.
Close behind was FontAwesome with the 11 billion requests for 9 files in the top 100 and then GSAP in third place,
seeing 9.9 billion requests for the 16 files in the top 100 resources for the month.
Requests & Bandwidth
Top 5 Resources
Total number of requests
The first important stat that we are given is the total number of requests sent to cdnjs.cloudflare.com.
Cloudflare provides this number to us at a 1% sample for the whole month, giving 1,849,204,306 at 1%.
This is 184,920,430,600 when multiplied up to 100%.
We are also given a number of requests for 3 days at a 100% sample, which is 18,344,643,906.
This is 183,446,439,060 when recalculated for the 30 days of June.
To provide the best possible estimate for the entire month, an average of both numbers will be used to generate the
estimate for the final number of requests for the month (75%: 1% month sample data, 25%: 100% 3 day data).
This results in cdnjs serving approximately 184,551,932,715 requests in June.
Nearly 185 billion requests or approximately 6.2 billion requests every single day of June. 📈
Similar to last month, there was a slight drop in cdnjs requests overall this month. However, the average requests per
day slightly crept up, from 6.1 billion per day last month to 6.2 billion this month. This still leaves us
significantly ahead of where we were sixth months ago, when we saw closer to 160 billion requests per month.
Total bandwidth usage
Another great stat that Cloudflare has given us again is the bandwidth usage for the cdnjs.cloudflare.com domain.
This number, like total requests, is provided at a 1% sample for the month and in gigabytes: 32,256.44 GB.
This is 3,225,644.0 GB or 3.23 PB when multiplied up to be 100%.
Additionally, a 3 day 100% sample is given by Cloudflare at 330,024.33 GB.
This results in 3,300,243.3 GB or 3.30 PB for the month.
As with the total number of requests and due to the significant difference between the two, both numbers will be used to
calculate an average for the final estimate of bandwidth consumed this month (75%: 1% month sample data, 25%: 100% 3
day data).
This produces the estimate of 3,244,293.8 GB of bandwidth used for this month by cdnjs.
This gives cdnjs a massive bandwidth consumption of 3.24 petabytes of data for requests in June. 🤯
This month cdnjs saw a large bump in total bandwidth used compared to previous months, with a 15% increase seen from
last month. cdnjs consumed 3.24 PB of bandwidth to serve requests this month, the largest consumption in a single month
seen for cdnjs so far. This is similar to the spike seen in February of this year, and can likely be explained in part
by the increase in requests to FontAwesome's font files.

These are provided at a 1% sample for the whole of June.
Bandwidth is measured in gigabytes.
This data, as well as previous months' data, is available in the SQLite data.db file.
