Shared Events dragged from an Object Editor show as an "Event ref" on the clipboard and include a Role. You can drag an "Event" to a CardView Person or Family, but that is not possible with an "Event ref".
Note that when dragging an "Event ref" to a Person or Family Editor, it does not pop the standard event editor with an "Unknown" role like . Instead, it simply clones the Role when adding the Event to the Person or Family.

I came over this today, I didnt know it were different if you copied from event view and copy from another person list were different. But now I know.
Something related to this that isnt cardview itself, is that if you ctrl c on an event in event view, it shows up in clipboard just fine. if you do it on another persons event list, it does not, you have to drag and drop it to the clipboard.
Unfortunately, the Ref objects in the Gramps clipboard's GUI are not as full-featured as objects. (As indicated by the lack of context menu options for Ref type objects.)
And there is no option to extract the object referenced to be copied to the Clipboard either.
