The current Camunda Modeler does not support grouping open BPMN processes.
Currently, Camunda Modeler can be used to design a single BPMN process, but it lacks the ability to group or bring together different processes and here is no built-in functionality to easily navigate back and forth between a calling process and its called processes. This makes it difficult to effectively manage complex processes. It would enhance the organization of grouped processes, making process understanding and management easier.
Proposed solution
Addition of tab grouping feature to Camunda Modeler
Labeling of grouped processes and naming groups based on labels
Provide a visual indicator or breadcrumb navigation that displays the process hierarchy and allows users to navigate to higher-level processes.
Add a "Go Back" button or navigation option within Camunda Modeler to easily return to the calling process from a called process.
Ensure that the navigation feature maintains the context and preserves any modifications made in the called process when returning to the calling process.
Alternatives considered
Camunda Modeler should enable users to group open BPMN processes and create more complex process structures. The tab grouping feature would be a significant step in organizing processes and improving comprehensibility.
With the proposed navigation feature, users should be able to seamlessly move between a calling process and its called processes within Camunda Modeler. This would improve the overall modeling experience, simplify process analysis, and enable efficient modifications of complex process structures.
Additional context
Please consider evaluating this issue and considering the addition of the tab grouping feature to Camunda Modeler. This feature would enhance process management efficiency for users and make Camunda Modeler a more effective tool.
