way to view conversation of released record without creating new version

When preparing to update an in press record, among other possible scenarios, it would be helpful to be able to see the conversation which preceded the initial release or any subsequent adjustments, without having to create a new version to review. Not a feature needed outside of the super user portfolio, I don't think. Certainly not a feature for general readership at any rate.
