Sony Bravia Android TVs - is it something thats doable?

Hi,
first of all thank you so much for all the work, I really admire people who are able to do this kind of stuff.

Most sony TVs are using MTK SoC:

To show a few. The owner communities are chained by sony, without any possibility of customization, because the bootloader is locked. There is NO option to OEM Unlock in Developer Settings. Via ADB it is possible to adb bootloader reboot, but then it reboots to a Sony logo and the device is basically bricked at this point, only forced factory reset, that erases everything, helps. I ordered a USB A to USB A cable, because someone reported that this would allow to connect. USB A to USB C doesnt work at all.

If your tool can unlock these TVs, then it'd open a whole other world to a big community. I don't want to play trial and error on a 3k$ device, without a shed of evidence that it could work, so I was wondering if you could say something regarding that @bkerler

Depends. If you can get usb access to it, I'm pretty sure it's doable. Some tv only have uart access via scart cable. But I guess only few would like to brick their tv just for testing ;D

So you think I should just do some testing? What would you do on my place to make sure the tool will work properly?

The first step would be to try to get any connection and bootloader reply. Then see which security is enabled. If sbc is off, then next step would be to dump brom.

I have the same Sony TV and want to unlock bootloader just for remove YouTube and replace it with SmartTube but seems like no chance. MTKClient doesn't detect it when connect USB-A to A cable

adb reboot bootloader make device boot to fastboot mode with sony logo, can be connect with usb 2.0 port but i tried fastboot oem unlock/fastboot flashing unlock, nothing works

I have the Sony KD65XD9305 MT5890 MTK
I used an application called "ADB APP Control" I debloated my Android TV using my PC via my WiFi network. Out of curiosity I tried to reboot bootloader it went into a Sony logo twice then just freezes at blackacreen. I tried buttons resets that didn't help. USB recovery method also no help. Countles power off etc nothing helped.

The FIX was I bought a USB3 A to A cable. Then got my friends Windows 10 notebook. Installed the ADB Android driver.
Connected cable to USB 1. I ran "fastboot reboot" from the command line but TV didnt reboot the CMD was saying "awaiting device" I was already upset but decided to replug USB 2 and the TV just suddenly rebooted Android the TV is working fine although I debloated it again after a fresh reinstall off the firmware.
