Q: Would it be feasible to make a similar tool to convert between first and third person? I.e. change "I pick up my hammer" to "He picks up his hammer." The obvious parameter is which sex pronouns (he/she/they); and going from 3rd-->1st one ought to be able to give name(s) for the POV person, so given "Elena picks up her hammer" you'd need to tell it to treat "Elena" as though it were "her".

(I'm not asking you to write it! Just wondering how hard you think it'd be. I know nothing about SpaCy or pattern aside from what I've gleaned from reading through tenseflow.py and making a few additions.)

My initial thought is this doesn't sound too hard. Might not even require parsing and you could get away with simple substitutions. Worth trying the easy way, using str.replace, and seeing where that falls short

  • Would "Paul is a doctor" become "I am a doctor"? Or would you only consider changing pronouns?
