Series of code with the purpose of utilizing the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectro-Radiometer (MODIS) M*D10A10 datasets for deriving snow duration metrics over BC during the period 2002 - 2018. Additional analysis is carried out to explore the influence of major climate modes including the El Nino Southern Oscillation and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation on inter-annual snow cover variability.
This project is completed and has been published in The Cryosphere https://www.the-cryosphere-discuss.net/tc-2019-61/.
We use Google Earth Engine to download the daily MODIS snow cover product, then Python to fit the LOWESS time series interpolation, and then R to analyze the data start, end and duration of snow cover.
