Currently, I believe the message sent to users is correct; the new contributions do need to be reviewed before they go public. There are still several problems with this workflow:
The newly contributed items are marked private by default, which means they are visible only to administrators and to the contributor. While the contributor is logged in, it appears that the item is already public. This could be very confusing if they just go an email saying to wait for approval, and could cause them to send out links to an item that nobody else can see.
I think I remember Sue telling me that she would prefer for the items to go immediately public, since the review functionality requires constant curation.
I have a few questions about our ideal contribution workflow. We can discuss that a bit tomorrow at our meeting, and then hopefully I can make it all intuitive and simple.
