Welcome to the NIF-Ontology wiki!

The NIF-Ontology is currently undergoing significant restructuring. Here is a brief summary of the upcoming changes.

1. All nifstd owl ontology files are being converted to the ttl rdf serialization format. A preview of the conversion can be seen here.
2. All existing nifstd IRIs will be shortened and their hierarchical structure removed to provide a uniform curie prefix for all identifiers.
3. A number of different ontology components will be deprecated in favor of community ontologies that did not exist at the time of their creation. At the moment moment NIF-GrossAnatomy is the first on the block in favor of Uberon. Certain information (for example the NIF brain partonomy) will be preserved in the form of bridge files on top of Uberon identifiers.
