Definitely the most requested geoplot feature is webmap support.

There are two approaches: a static PNG time service based approach using contextily, and a JavaScript scrolly-panny approach using mplleaflet. The examples gallery currently has some demos demonstrating manual use of the latter, and there is some preliminary work (#48, #77) demonstrating the former.

I'm not sure yet what this feature would look like from an API perspective.
