Booking Carpentries Workshops #21
Comments
Now that Openscapes is an Official Carpentries Member Organization, (see #4): Here's the email from Maneesha Sane: Hi Julia, Congratulations on your institution’s membership with The Carpentries! Your membership runs from April 1, 2021 to April 1, 2022. As a silver member, you have a total of ten seats in Instructor Training available to you. We’d like to get you set up for Instructor Training early in your membership year so that your new Instructors can productively build a Carpentries community at your institution. We run two-day, online Instructor Training workshops multiple times per month. These events are scheduled for a range of time zones, to better serve our global community. To register, please direct your team members to our Instructor Training workshop registration page (http://carpentries.github.io/instructor-training/training_calendar/index.html) which includes links for each event's registration on Eventbrite. Your trainees should register for the event of their choice on Eventbrite with the code: openscapes91. This code will unlock the Eventbrite registration page and can be used ten times. Please be sure to share this code with your trainees. For guidance about how to select your trainees, please visit our Information for Member Organisations page at http://carpentries.github.io/instructor-training/members/. Trainees should also complete our application form (https://amy.carpentries.org/forms/request_training/) using the same code. Note that the Eventbrite registration secures their seat at a particular event; the application form ensures their information is in our system. With the global pandemic, we know there is a lot of uncertainty in people's availability. This includes our Trainers, and so you may see limited offerings on our calendar for now. We hope to increase this in the coming months. In the meantime, if there is anything we can do to be of support, please let me know. You can use this email template to send this information to your group: https://docs.carpentries.org/topic_folders/instructor_training/email_templates_admin.html#initial-trainee-contact-email-from-member-site-to-their-prospective-trainees-online-training If one of your affiliates is not able to attend after they’ve registered for an event, please get in touch with us at [email protected] as soon as possible. In some cases, we will be able to transfer your training seat to another event. However, because the success of our program depends on accurately predicting our capacity needs, we may not be able to accommodate changes in registration unless we are notified at least one week in advance of the event. For more information about our Instructor Training program, including details about our curriculum, certification process, and logistical details of the training event itself, please visit our Information for Member Organisations page at http://carpentries.github.io/instructor-training/members/. I’m excited to help you build your team of Carpentries instructors at Openscapes! Please let me know once you’ve shared this registration information with your trainees so we know that your team is ready to come on board. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about this process, including checking on the status of your remaining seats. Best, -- |
