There is a section in the When To Cloud chapter of the Cookbook dedicated to real user experiences where they had to decide if they were going to use the cloud for their work. We want to compile some (2-3) affirmative cases (To Cloud) and the negative cases (Not to Cloud) that include:
Description of project
Workload type (CPU intensive, memory, IO, etc.)
Challenges encountered – were any overcome?
Why the cloud was or was not used
Single biggest factor the contributed to your decision?
It's a moving target, with different time horizons for different fixes to current hurdles. Happy to help but I wonder if my experiences of last week and last year will be out of date uninterestingly before I can articulate them?
Is "cloud" too vague, do you mean parallelization for Big throughput (which can't be done any other way or place than the cloud), or access for sampling (which an Opendap server either on-prem or cloud suffices)?
