Hi @macalikm ,thanks for downloading and trying my this useless box project. I'm sorry about not adding enough information about my project. The electronic parts you need is shown in Fritzing diagram. I know that you have printed the 3D parts,so just assemble them. The code sketch is in Code/Useless_Box.ino. Finally, I would be very happy if you can do me a favor on documenting this project. Hugs |
Cael,
Thanks for getting back to me. I just ordered some servos and an Arduino
Nano.
After the parts arrive, I'll take careful notes as I build it.
Once I get everything working smoothly, I'll try to write a mini "How To "(
in ENglish) and send it to you.
By the way, Nice work on the 3D printed parts.
Thanks,
Mike

I have done some changes about this github repository.
The electronic parts you need is shown in *Fritzing diagram*.
I know that you have printed the 3D parts,so just assemble them.
About the second servo stick, that's in *3D File/stick.stl*.
I find that you can just use a *longer servo stick* to replace this
part,that's a better choice.
The code sketch is in *Code/Useless_Box.ino*.
I'm sorry about not deleting some initializing files, that's why 123.ino
exits.😅
Finally, I would be very happy if you can do me a favor on documenting
this project.
Hugs

Hi Mike I'm so glad to hear that you like this project and spend time helping me to write a document. I really appreciate your help. Best |
Hi Cael,
I see that you updated the README.MD on your github. The photo is very
helpful!
The servos that I ordered for the Useless Box arrived in the post yesterday.
I got MG90S micro servos from Tower Pro.
The servos don't quite fit in the mounting areas in Bottom-stl.
One mounting space isn't deep enough for the servo housing.
And neither of them had openings to accommodate the wires on these servos.
The ribbon cable for this brand comes out the side of the housing.
None of the horns that come with my servos fit in the Arm that you designed.
I have Solidworks Student Edition, so that would be pretty simple to fix
Would it be possible for you to send or add the Solidworks SLDPRT (part)
files to your Thingiverse or git post?
There is a Solidworks assembly file (1.SLDASM) on thingiverse, but it
doesn't contain the part files.
I might also like to attempt adding mounting holes for the Arduino Nano or
ProMini and a battery compartment.
I did have a chance to wire-up a breadboard and run the Arduino sketch.
The way that the motors move makes sense to me now.
I'm keeping good notes on the progress, and will send you a Documentation
when it's done.
I'll also include and part files that I come-up with and include
descriptions in the Docs.
Thanks Again,
MIke

Hi Mike I have updated Solidworks Files to git. I'm sorry about that trouble. If you got more problems, just contact me, and I will do my best. By the way, I really thanks for what you are doing for documenting. Best |
Hi Cael,
Thanks for the files.
Here's a Pic of the servos that I have.
I tested them out on an arduino with your sketch and everything seems to
work well.
I have a Nano ordered that should fit in the bottom-stl.
I recall that you suggested trying some different sized sticks..
It's a holiday here, so I won't be able to get to the 3dPrinter until next
week.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks Again,
Mike

Hi Mike
I have updated Solidworks Files to git.
Now you can download and modify these parts.
I'm sorry about that trouble.
The reason Bottom Part isn't fit your motor, mostly is that I used black
smaller ones.
Did you use the blue ones, and I think that kind of servo motor is more
popular.
So feel free to modify them.
If you got more problems, just contact me, and I will do my best.
By the way, I really thanks for what you are doing for documenting.
Best

Hi Cael,
I didn't forget about helping with the Docs.
I tried building a Useless Box with the servos that I have, and nothing fit.
The servos are much deeper than the originals.
I redrew some of the parts in Solid works, but haven't printed them yet.
I think that I'm just going to get some of the smaller Black Servos and
build it per your original drawings.
I'm keeping good notes and still plan on sending you a mini How to when I'm
done.
Best Wishes,
Mike

Hi Mike I'm really sorry for not replying to you in time. I‘m very grafteful if you're still working on documenting my project and I'd love to put your efforts to this project whenever you finished. If you like I can invite you to this repository so that you can push your commits. We can also discuss some details about 3D design, codes, wiring and etc. I would be very happy if we can do this together. I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Best Wishes, |
Hi,
I downloaded and printed the Useless Box stl files from Thingiverse.
Is there any more documentation for the project than what's listed here?
I'm assuming that 123.ino is an Arduino Sketch to run the whole thing.
Which Arduino did you use?
What is the second servo and stick for? (they aren't shown in the documentation)
Is there a wiring diagram?
Is there a parts and construction layout?
Would you like any help in documenting the project?
Cheers
Mike
