Hi,

I made a similar project 4 years ago or something at https://github.com/xloem/gitlakepy .
Your project looks far more well done and I'd like to port my work into your system, but I don't really have the capacity to do so.

I've invited you as a maintainer into gitlakepy as a gesture of good will. If you ever want to, and it's a good idea, feel free to take it over or mess with it.

(note: the original intention of gitlake was a place that would support decentralized git and git-annex backends, but most of the work is just a class that connects python to git-annex. I'm sad that this work was never merged with other work. It seems really important to work together.)

Hi :) thanks for adding me to the repo! I'm currently quite busy, too, but when I find the time again, I'll look into it and see how we can maybe combine our work to get the best of both.

It's a pity I didn't find your repo back in 2017 when I started working on AnnexRemote. Then we could have joined forces from the beginning. I remember I checked git-annex's wiki back then, but gitlakepy was only added there a few months ago, iirc.
