Describe your suggested feature

For example, if you were to browse MangaDex, you could just hide or ignore the mangas you don't want to see when trying to look up for new mangas.
Lot like how the filtering for "already in library"-filter works but for manga you don't have any intention of ever reading or adding to your read list.

It would be very useful for scatterbrains like me who drop a manga, and then forget that it was dropped, add it back to the list and then realize that it was the one you had dropped.

  • I have written a short but informative title.
  • If this is an request for a feature in the original Tachiyomi, I am opening because multiple versions of TachiyomiJ2K have been released without this feature.
  • If this is an issue with an extension, or a request for an extension, I should be opening an issue in the extensions repository.
  • I have updated the app to version 1.6.6.
  • I have checked through the app settings for my feature.

You could instead make a category called "Dropped" in your library and have those enteries there and then you can enable the hide enteries already in library.

That would require adding/keeping them in my library and they would end up being refreshed every time I update my library and increasing the API calls to the websites.
My reading list is quite large already so I'd rather not do it that way, it already takes 10 minutes for me to update my whole library and doing it that way would just increase how long it takes to update the list.

You can turn on or turn off updates per category in the library settings.

Tick - Always include
Not ticked or crossed - Manual update only
Crossed - Always exclude

Tachiyomi already recommends doing this for large libraries and in ur case if ur library takes 10 mins to update then it is more than required to sort those enteries into categories to reduce server load.

It's far more preferable to make the actual reading list less bulky and the thing you are suggesting doesn't do so.

Why I would want to keep dropped things on my list? I have zero intention to pick them later, if it's dropped, it stays dropped.

How is my solution less sensible? Are you thinking this right? Let's talk about your problem first you said you want to hide those dropped manga so that you don't pick them up again. Now if u are gonna use tachiyomi then you are going to use multiple sources. So suppose if u hide one piece on mangadex and then what about other sources they will still have one piece visible. You will have to hide that same entry on every source downloaded. What about the source u will install in future? Now the solution I proposed handles this already in the following way.

Think about it. Which is more sensible. You are trying to solve a problem which has already been solved since ages. Making dropped list is very normal that's why mal, anilist, kitsu and others have it.

I only use two sources and they do not have same series on them so it's not much of an issue. I'm not sure why you are so adamant on that your way is the only correct way.
You need to understand that different people have different needs, and I'd rather not have my 8000+ reading list end up being 20 000+ reading list. It slows the app down.

I never said my solution is only the correct way. There can multiple ways to solve any problem and in this case the problem is already solved and the solution is valid and works for everyone whether u use 1, 2 or 20 sources. But ur proposed solution only works for cases like yours. I don't understand how having many enteries will make the app slow? First time hearing about this. Which process of app becomes slow? On the contrary it will reduce the server load on mangadex, make ur global updates faster. I am done talking about this already solved issue. Let's see what the developer has to say about this.

Which process? Obviously all of it, opening it, adding things on the list, removing things from the list, updating the list, basically everything and anything that has to do with the list.
I read on tablet and all the lower end ones are trashy, poor cpu and barely any RAM. It has Kirin 659 and 2 gigs of RAM. Even YouTube on 1080p on it is quite tough so I just use it for reading. And I'm sure I'm not only one that uses shitty tablet for reading manga, manhwa or manhua.
And why it slows down is very simple, bigger things need more resources and use more of it.

I am done talking about this already solved issue.

It is not solved issue though because it is not an issue, it's a feature request. Just because it doesn't apply to you, doesn't mean other people won't benefit from it. There is plenty of features in Tachiyomi I don't use and deem useless and you probably use them and find them useful.
