authentication, doesn't find other user in IM

Hi, using MM v5 and have compiled the plugin from purple-mattermost-cleanup-1 (thank you)

My username and password fails on login, but the github cookie from my browser works. I don't see an error logged on the MM server when the failure happens.

Another thing I'm seeing: a direct message with four participants seems to work. If I message any of them directly, though, they see my initial message, but return messages appear in a different tab - so it ends up having one tab with my half of the conversation and another with the other half. (see two screen shots)

I started a conversation in a private channel. It looked okay at first, then the reply my message from someone else in the room repeated five times in my Pidgin window. It looks okay in the MM desktop client. I'm noticing now that the repeated message had been edited, which maybe isn't supported. I'll keep trying to see if it behaves the same in non-edited messages.

Oh, I didn't mention the "Your search for the user ..." popups. There were dozens of them.

Today IM worked - it looks like the two users whose IMs with me had the issues (two different tabs, one incoming IMs, the other outgoing - and the "your search for user @xxx returned no results" both have spaces in their displayed names.
