GUPC v4.8.0.1 doesn't include upc_types.h which we use in a few places.

We should catch this via a configure / automake warning.

We could catch this in m4/ax_upc_compiler.m4 , or add some ifdef misery through out the code checking for __GUPC__ and __VERSION__ > 4.8.0.1
